Dear Friends and Music Lovers,
Jack asked Arlene and me to put together a program for our March Concert. The result is "The Nifty-Fifties." In addition to the Show Band we will be featuring The Harmony Sisters (Elaine Upton, Chris McAleer and Beverly Crowe) singing as a group and individually, and vocalists Marilyne Sherwood, Brian Detwiler and Jim Perkins. Mike Phister, from our trumpet section will play "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White."
All of the numbers were either written in the fifties or were popular at that time. The opening number was written in 1913 but was made famous by its inclusion in a movie made in 1957. You will all recognize it immediately.
There will be selections from the pop charts, jazz, country music and movies from the fifties. Bring a friend and we guarantee you a "nifty" evening of music.
